Durano Lounge opens at 9am seven days a week, and closes at 11pm Sunday to Thursday and midnight on Friday and Saturday. It is at Palace Buildings, Grand Parade, Tynemouth, NE30 4JH, directly facing the sea, on 0191 329 2039.

It is a Loungers plc cafe bar rather than an independent, and it opened on 27 November 2024 in the building that housed the Tynemouth Toy Museum for close to twenty years until 2012. Before that it was a public shelter. The fit-out leans on both: the walls carry old pictures of the museum's toys, and the roller skates are, in the company's own words, an homage to the skating rink that burnt down next door.

The name is not a place name. Loungers says the site is named after Duran Duran, because the band's guitarist Andy Taylor was born in Tynemouth.

Food runs all day from breakfast through to dinner, with separate gluten-free, vegan and children's menus. Four standing deals are published on its own page: a free glass of house wine, pint of Cruzcampo, soft drink or pudding with any burger, main or salad from 5pm on Mondays; three tapas and a drink for £14.50 from 5pm on Tuesdays; two of the same cocktail for £13.50 every day from 5pm; and a mug of soup with half a grilled cheese toastie for £7.50 from noon to 5pm Monday to Friday.

Walk-ins are the norm for groups of six or fewer; anything larger needs a group booking in advance. The venue is dog friendly, with step-free seating and an accessible toilet.

Food hygiene rating 5, inspected 9 January 2025 by North Tyneside Council, with a clean sweep on the component scores: 0 for food hygiene and safety, 0 for structural compliance and 0 for confidence in management. Zero is the best score in each, so nothing was marked down anywhere.
